We successfully completed our first rewilding action in collaboration with Quinta da Messejana, and the response was overwhelming! A team of around 20 enthusiastic volunteers joined forces with us to initiate the transformation of the old 9-hectare eucalyptus plantation next to the quinta into a vibrant, wild Portuguese forest. To realize this vision, our first step was the removal of all eucalyptus trees. Over the past weeks, a massive machine cut down the eucalyptus, and now we have begun the meticulous process of clearing out the wood by hand, carefully preserving as many native trees, such as oaks and cork oaks, as possible. After a day of dedicated hard work, we gathered all the volunteers for some beers and a BBQ at the quinta.
